The criminal case against Vagif Khachaturyan was sent to the Baku Military Court
The preliminary investigation into the criminal case against Vagif Khachaturyan has been completed and sent for consideration to the Baku Military Court. Report informs citing AZERTAC, this was stated by the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev.
The Prosecutor General noted that with the participation of Khachaturyan, as part of a criminal group not provided for by the legislation of Azerbaijan, consisting of Armenian nationalists living in the Karabakh economic region, as well as in the Republic of Armenia, genocide was committed against the local Azerbaijani population in the village of Mesheli, Khojaly region (in the territory of the former Askeran district). “As a result of these crimes of genocide, persecution, expulsion, armed conflicts committed against the Azerbaijani population in violation of international humanitarian law, a total of 27 people were intentionally killed, 21 people received bodily injuries of varying severity, two village residents were taken hostage, 340 people out of 81 family households were resettled from their places of permanent residence to other territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the village residents suffered material damage in the amount of 13,568,060 manats, and the state – 130,800 manats,” he said.
