Azerbaijani citizen detained in Georgia extradited to homeland

An Azerbaijani citizen who was on the international wanted list has been extradited to his homeland, Report informs citing the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office. The request of the General Prosecutor’s Office for the extradition of Azerbaijani citizen Mahmudzade Chingiz Akif oglu in accordance with the requirements of the European Convention on Extradition of December 13, 1957 was satisfied by the authorized bodies of Georgia.

Mahmudzade is suspected of committing fraud causing major damage; it was previously decided to bring him to justice as an accused, but he escaped from the investigation, and therefore was put on the international wanted list.

On October 5, 2023, accompanied by a Special convoy of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice, Chingiz Mahmudzade was transported from Georgia to Azerbaijan
