This year, more than 6 tons of drugs worth 252 million manats were seized from circulation in Azerbaijan

In January-September 2023, law enforcement agencies, as a result of operational search activities in the field of combating illicit drug trafficking, identified a total of 8,320 facts of crimes. Report informs, this was stated in the permanent working group of the State Commission for Combating Drug Addiction and Illicit Drug Trafficking.

It was noted that 2,855 crimes were related to the illegal sale of drugs, 5,151 to their illegal acquisition and storage, 284 to the illegal cultivation of drugs, and 30 to other crimes.

According to the revealed facts, a total of 6 tons 207 kg 543.024 g of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, the total value of which is estimated at 252 million 353 thousand manats, was seized from illegal trafficking.

6,483 people were brought to criminal liability for drug trafficking, of which 6,329 were men and 154 women; among those brought to criminal liability, 64 were citizens of foreign countries.
