The President got acquainted with the conditions created at the Sumgayit City Stadium named after Mehdi Huseynzade

On October 23, 2023, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev got acquainted with the conditions created after reconstruction at the Sumgayit City Stadium named after Mehdi Huseynzade, AZERTAC reports. The head of the Executive Power of the city of Sumgayit, Zakir Farajev, informed the head of state about the work done.

It should be noted that the reconstruction of the Sumgait City Stadium named after Mehdi Huseynzade began in 2020, in accordance with the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated November 21, 2019. Construction work was carried out in stages and was completed in 2022.

The area of the stadium with a capacity of 9,502 people is 6.8 hectares. At the stadium, consisting of twenty-two sectors, VIP and media stands for 545 people were also built, the territory was landscaped, and landscaping strips were created.

It was reported that judo, boxing and karate halls would operate in the premises under the building. There are also two gyms, a conference room for 40 people, administrative offices, rooms for journalists, referees, doctors, commentators, coaches and other technical and support rooms.
