An investigation has been launched into theft at the Ministry of Defense

The materials of the criminal case regarding the theft of 143 million manat from the Ministry of Defense, which involves the former Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Najmeddin Sadikov and several high-ranking officers, have been separated into separate proceedings, oxu.az reports. In this regard, the investigative agency is conducting an investigation.

At the next court hearings, lawyers for the accused military personnel will file petitions against N. Sadykov.

It is noted that at the beginning of 2022, the State Security Service carried out an operation in connection with violations of the law in the Ministry of Defense. The officers brought to criminal liability as a result of the operation were charged under Article 179.4 (embezzlement or embezzlement committed by an organized group of persons by prior conspiracy with the infliction of especially large damage) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Of the damage caused to the state in the amount of 143 million manats, 40 million were compensated.
