An internationally wanted Turkish citizen has been extradited

Turkish citizen Fayik Karachel was accused of attempted murder in his country and has been put on the international wanted list since 2022, oxu.az reports with reference to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan.

So, in July of this year it was established that he was in our country, and measures were taken against him. The petition of the competent authorities of Turkey for the extradition of F. Karachel was sent to the Baku Court of Serious Crimes for consideration through the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan. On September 19 of this year, in accordance with the European Convention on Extradition of December 13, 1957, the court accepted the petition and decided to extradite the Turkish citizen.

On November 3, 2023, the accused was handed over to the competent authorities of Turkey, accompanied by a special convoy of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice.
