Joint operation of the State Security Service and the Migration Service: illegal migrants detained

During the joint operational-search activities carried out by the State Security Service (SSS) and the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan against illegal migration, 26 foreigners were identified and detained without appropriate documents for residence and work, oxu.az reports with reference to a joint statement two structures.

During the investigation, it was established that the foreigners were deceived by their own compatriots, sending them to Azerbaijan for $1,100 – $2,200 and promising them registration and employment in the country. As it turned out, foreign citizens were not registered and did not receive appropriate permits to engage in labor activities, as a result of which they became illegal migrants.

According to the data, foreign citizens paid the organizers of this illegal scheme between $1,100 and $2,200.

Based on the substantiated evidence collected, it turned out that one of the foreigners involved in organizing illegal migration lives in Azerbaijan. Efforts are currently being made to identify and detain this person.

The revealed facts will be given a legal assessment.
