The import of more than 40 kg of drugs from Iran into the country was prevented

On November 1, 2023, 7 kg 650 g of marijuana were discovered and seized on the official territory of the border outpost near the village of Khajaly, Zangilan district, oxu.az reports with reference to the press service of the State Border Service. In addition, on the same day, near the village of Mahmudlu, Fizuli region, a border patrol recorded a violation of the state border in the direction from Iran to Azerbaijan.

When the offender was detained, it was established that he was a citizen of Iran and a member of a drug smuggling group. During the inspection, 31 kg 50 g of narcotic drugs (3 kg of methamphetamine, 28 kg of marijuana, 0.5 g of opium), 2,000 tablets of the potent drug “Methadone M-40” and 600 tablets of “Pregabalin-150” were seized from the detainee.

In addition, on November 4, near the village of Boyuk Bahmanli, Fizuli region, border guards discovered and seized 3 kg 385 g of marijuana hidden by smugglers.
