State Committee: In the next three years, it is planned to resettle about 140 thousand internally displaced persons into their homes

Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Migrants Fuad Huseynov spoke at the 44th session of the Working Group on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva (Switzerland), APA reports citing the state committee. 10 percent of Azerbaijan’s 10 million population are internally displaced. After the 44-day Patriotic War of 2020, the internationally recognized territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan were restored, and conditions were created for the safe, dignified and voluntary return of our compatriots to their homeland.

It was noted that in the next three years, the Azerbaijani government plans to resettle about 140,000 internally displaced persons to their homes in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur.
