A foreigner involved in organizing illegal migration was detained

Employees of the State Migration Service (SMS) detained a foreigner who fraudulently brought his compatriots to Azerbaijan, promising them employment and the opportunity to move to Europe, oxu.az reports with reference to the SMS.

The detained foreigner was found to have embezzled a total of $15,000 from seven migrants. He promised six of them work in Azerbaijan, and one the opportunity to move to a European country. The materials on the case have been sent to law enforcement agencies for a legal assessment.

The department called on citizens to report cases of illegal migration to the 24-hour hotline 919.
