The Prosecutor General’s Office warns citizens buying apartments in new buildings

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan called on citizens to carefully study the documentation of construction companies when purchasing apartments in apartment buildings under construction or not permitted for use. Report was informed about this by the Prosecutor General’s Office. The department provided a list of documents that citizens should request from a construction company in order to avoid possible violations of the law and to avoid becoming a victim of a crime.

It is noted that when purchasing housing, citizens must require a document confirming the right of ownership, lease or use of the land plot on which the building is located, a project agreed with the executive authority, permission from the executive authority for the construction of the building, an act of acceptance of the facility for operation, documents, confirming the identity and position (authority to sell housing) of the construction company employee who will participate in the purchase and sale transaction, as well as the decision of the general meeting of members of the housing construction cooperative on the allocation of residential (non-residential) space in the cooperative building, the charter and other constituent documents construction company, with the exception of information constituting a trade secret.
