Statement by the Ministry of Culture in connection with a theater employee accused of embezzling 332 thousand manats

The Ministry of Culture made a statement in connection with an employee of the Azerbaijan State Pantomime Theater, accused of embezzling 332,000 manats, Oxu.Az reports with reference to the ministry. Ayten Kerimova, who had worked as an accountant at the theater since 2019, was fired in January 2023 due to serious shortcomings in her work.

The statement says that the Main Anti-Corruption Directorate under the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan opened a criminal case against her under Articles 179.3.2, 308.2 and 313 of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic. After completion of the investigation, the case materials were sent for consideration to the Baku Court of Serious Crimes. It turned out that during her work in this theater A. Kerimova embezzled funds in a total amount of 332,000 manats in various ways. At the same time, significant damage was caused to property, financial resources, as well as legally protected interests of the Ministry of Culture.
