Court process of a member of illegal armed groups

The trial of Zulfyugarov Kamran Azer oglu, accused of participating in the armed conflict in Syria as part of the Islamic State, has begun. As APA reports, at an online meeting in the Sumgait Serious Crimes Court chaired by Judge Nureddin Huseynli, the personal details of the accused were clarified.

Based on materials collected by the State Security Service of the Azerbaijan Republic and in accordance with the law, in 2018, by a court decision, he was deprived of Azerbaijani citizenship and the right to enter the territory of Azerbaijan. However, he entered the country illegally.

Information about the presence of a terrorist on the territory of Azerbaijan was checked by the State Security Service (SSS), and after his location was established, K. Zulfugarov was detained.

K. Zulfyugarov was prosecuted under Articles 12.1, 279.1 (creation of armed formations or groups not provided for by law, as well as participation in their creation and activities) and other articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan and arrested by court decision.
