The judicial investigation into the criminal case of a former employee of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan has been completed

The investigation into the criminal case against Zarifa Abbasova, who worked from 2008 to 2023 as an accountant at the Delegation of the European Union to Azerbaijan, has been completed. Report informs, at the trial chaired by the judge of the Baku Court of Serious Crimes, Akhmed Guliyev, prosecutor Orkhan Samedov asked the court for time to make an indictment.

It should be noted that during the investigation, reasonable suspicions were revealed that Zarifa Abbasova, in the period from 2017 to 2022, while working in the specified position, cashed funds in the bank account of the representative office, as well as through false payment orders in I transferred funds to my salary card at different times. Thus, she appropriated more than 983 thousand manats.

Zarifa Abbasova has been charged under articles 179.4 (larceny on an especially large scale), 308.2 (abuse of official powers resulting in grave consequences) and 313 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
