Azerbaijan abolishes age limit of 30 years for candidates for judges

The age limit of 30 years for candidates for judges is abolished. As APA reports, this is reflected in the proposed amendment to the law “On Courts and Judges.”

According to the project, citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who have a higher legal education, have worked as a lawyer for more than 5 years, and have the right to participate in elections in accordance with the first part of Article 126 of the Constitution of the Azerbaijan Republic will be able to become judges.

According to the current law, judges could be citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who are at least 30 years old, have the right to participate in elections, have a higher legal education, and have worked as a lawyer for more than 5 years.
