Operation of Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime : armed persons detained

Employees of the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted another series of operations in the capital and regions of Azerbaijan against persons illegally storing firearms and organizing their sale, oxu.az reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

During the events, a total of 19 armed persons were detained. 18 firearms were found and seized from them, including 6 Makarov and European-made pistols, 7 Kalashnikov assault rifles, a PM-98 machine gun, 4 hunting rifles with cut-off barrels and butts, as well as 243 cartridges of various calibers. In addition, about 2 kg of marijuana was also found in one of them.

Criminal cases have been initiated on all facts. A preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen against each of the 19 detainees, and the investigation continues.
