The general director of the Republican Drug Treatment Center and his deputy were arrested

Officials of the Republican Narcological Center of the Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan were brought to criminal liability. As APA reports, this is stated in the joint information of the press services of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Ministry of Health.

The Main Anti-Corruption Directorate under the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan has opened a criminal case in connection with the illegal actions of the Director General of the Center, Elshan Mustafayev, and his deputy, Zamin Aliyev. During the investigation, it was established that after E. Mustafayev’s appointment to the post in April 2023, he and his deputy Z. Aliyev received bribes from alcohol and drug addicts when they placed them in the Center’s departments, and then divided these funds among themselves. The illegal actions of these individuals were proven and they were caught red-handed.

Both were detained as suspects and charged under Art. 311.3.1 and 311.3.2 of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan, and by a court decision, a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen in their regard.
