Two more people arrested in Toplum TV case

On March 9, the Khatai District Court of Baku decided to arrest Ruslan Izzetli, detained in the Toplum TV case. Report informs, a decision on this matter was made at a meeting chaired by Judge Sulkhana Hajiyeva.

A preventive measure was chosen against R. Izzetli in the form of arrest for a period of 4 months.

On March 6, 2024, information spread on social networks about searches at the Toplum TV office and the presence of detainees. The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan reported that, based on the information received, law enforcement officers carried out operational search activities in the office located at the address: Narimanovsky district, Yu. Chemenzyaminli street, building 98 “B”, as well as at other addresses.

It is noted that against the co-founder of Toplum TV Akif Gurbanov and his employees – Ramil Babayev, Ilkin Amrakhov, Mushfig Jabbarov and Ali Zeynalov – a preventive measure was chosen in the form of detention for a period of 4 months.

A criminal case has been initiated against A. Gurbanov and the above-mentioned persons under Article 206.3.2 (smuggling committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy) of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic.
