State Security Service: suspect arrested for attempted murder of head of the Lankaran Executive Powe
Employees of the State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan detained Bahruz Asgarov (born 1988) on suspicion of attempted murder of the head of the Executive Power of the city of Lankaran, Report informs with reference to the SSS.
During the investigation, SSS officers established that Azerbaijani citizen Asgarov Bahruz Alimamed oglu, who previously lived in the city of Murmansk in Russia, entered into a criminal conspiracy with persons living in various regions of the republic, and in order to violate public security in the country, create panic among the population, influence on decision-making by government bodies and international organizations, was preparing to commit a terrorist act, accompanied by the death of people and other socially dangerous consequences, having given them instructions to organize an assassination attempt on the head of the Executive Power of the city of Lankaran.
It was also established that Bahruz Asgarov instructed his contacts to carry out an assassination attempt on a foreign citizen working as an English teacher in some regions of Azerbaijan.
As a result of complex operational and investigative measures, Bahruz Asgarov was arrested and prosecuted under Articles 28, 214.2.1 (preparation for terrorism) of the Criminal Code, and by a court decision a preventive measure was chosen for him in the form of detention.
