Democracy of the second freshness

A member of the Harriman Institute at Columbia University and author of “Colour revolutions” in former Soviet Union” Lincoln Mitchell said in an interview with the Washington correspondent of Turan that “… in the next few years some of the priorities in relations between the U.S. and Azerbaijan will remain the same: oil, stability and democracy but only to such extent that not to contradict the first of two mentioned. Thus, democracy of an average level is the best priority. Iran will be a new in the US priorities which has not yet been six months ago. Azerbaijan is positioning itself as a close partner to the U.S. on Iran issue. Cooperation between our two governments on Iran issue is more important for the U.S. and American government than a desire to see Azerbaijan democratic indeed.

According to the American expert, “… all “color revolutions” were failures of democracy. For Azerbaijan and Russia to govern better do not mean necessarily to rule democratically. Govern better means better distribution of wealth, eliminate corruption. If the government in Baku in a position to do so they can put back a possibility of repetition of the “Arab spring”.

Bravo, Mr. Mitchell!

Thank you for your honesty and wise advice but it is not clear everything as for the “colour revolutions”.

Should it be understood said as that “colour revolutions” inspired by the United States have not ended according to plans of the organizers and Azerbaijan can only put back the “colour revolutions” but not to avoid?

It is clear that according to plan or not but in any case, do we need this? And, will such threats have an effect on our hedgehogs?
