Last year, 91 people became victims of human trafficking through social networks
In 2023, 91 Azerbaijani citizens became victims of human trafficking through social networks, oxu.az reports with reference to Report. This is reflected in the annual report of the National Coordinator against Trafficking in Persons.
According to the report, 38% of them are over 35 years old, 7% are aged 18-25 years and 55% are aged 25-35 years. 24 people are residents of Baku, 11 – Ganja, 6 – Tovuz, 5 – Sumgayit. 28 of them were sexually assaulted in Turkey, 28 in Russia, 15 in the UAE, 10 in Bahrain, 4 in Qatar, 3 in Iran and 1 in Iraq. Two more were deceived through social networks and subjected to labor exploitation in the country.
6 victims aged 18-25 years, 50 – 25-35 years old, 35 – over 35 years old, 24 – residents of Baku, 67 – residents of other cities and regions of the republic, 74 – were exploited in 2016-2022, and 17 – in 2023.
In 2005-2023, 1,350 people became victims of human trafficking, 1,264 of them were women, 86 were men.
