Bribery accused arrested in court

Former battalion commander of the military unit of the Ministry of Defense Elnur Aliyev was arrested on charges of bribery and theft, APA reports, the decision was made by the Baku Military Court.

The verdict was announced at a court hearing chaired by Judge Rafig Abbasov. According to the verdict, Elnur Aliyev, who was not detained during the investigation, was sentenced to 5 years in prison. He was arrested in the courtroom. The episode of theft of which he was accused was excluded from the sentence.

It is noted that Elnur Aliyev was charged under articles of the Criminal Code 179.1 (theft or embezzlement) and 311.2 (receipt of a bribe by an official for illegal actions).
