An attempt to smuggle 18 kg of jewelry prevented

Smuggling of a large consignment of jewelry across the customs border has been stopped in Azerbaijan, oxu.az reports with reference to the State Customs Committee.

It is noted that as a result of operational search activities carried out by employees of the department of the Main Customs Directorate of Air Transport, a little more than 18 kg of jewelry that was not declared to the customs authorities was found on the citizens of Azerbaijan (three members of one family) who arrived on the Istanbul-Baku flight.

During the preliminary investigation, it turned out that for financial reward the family was persuaded to illegally import a large consignment of jewelry across the customs border of Azerbaijan.

An investigation into this fact is underway.
