The appeal of the accused in the extortion case was not satisfied

The appeal court in the case of Sakit Alishov and Shahin Guliyev, accused of extorting 200,000 manats by using threats from the owner of a cafe in Baku, has ended, oxu.az reports with reference to Unikal. The corresponding decision was announced at a meeting chaired by judge of the Baku Court of Appeal Ibrahim Ibrahimli.

According to the decision, the appeal of the accused S. Alishov and Sh. Guliyev was not satisfied. A resident of the Jalilabad district, S. Alishov, and a native of the Gabala district, Sh. Guliyev, injured the owner of the Sheikh Lakhmajun doner shop, located in the Nasimi district of the capital, by hitting him on the head with a blunt metal object. Then they tied his young son to a chair in the basement and, threatening him with a knife, demanded 200,000 manats.

A criminal case was initiated against both individuals under Article 182.3.2 (extortion by an organized group for the purpose of acquiring property on a large scale) of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic.
