Trial of man accused of preparing terrorist attack held

A trial was held in the Baku Court of Grave Crimes on the criminal case against Elshan Najafov, accused of preparing a terrorist attack, APA reports. At the regular session chaired by Judge Ayten Aliyeva, the witnesses’ testimonies were read out.

Witness Ibrahim Alirzayev said that he recognized the accused from a social network, where he opened an account under a different name. He also reported on Elshan Najafov’s publications against the sovereignty of Azerbaijan. At the session, Elshan Najafov asked the court for time, saying that he could not testify and was not feeling well.

The trial will continue on September 23, 2024.

Elshan Najafov, 38, was detained during a special operation conducted by the State Security Service of Azerbaijan in September 2023. He was charged under Articles 28, 277 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
