Joint operation of the State Security Service and the State Border Service: four people detained
The State Security Service (SSS) and the State Border Service (SBS) of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AR), as a result of joint operational and investigative measures to combat illegal drug trafficking, discovered and seized a large batch of drugs illegally imported into the territory of our country by citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran, oxu.az reports with reference to a joint statement by the two agencies.
According to the information, as a result of urgent measures, citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan Veli Gasimov (born in 1982), Iskender Iskenderov (born in 1988), Agshin Suleymanzade (born in 1993) and stateless person Chingiz Dashdemirov (born in 1982) were detained red-handed when they were taking and trying to carry away 74 kg 163 g of marijuana hidden there by citizens of the IRI from the territory of green spaces on the side of the road in the village of Pirshagi in the Sabunchu district of Baku. A criminal case was initiated on this fact under Articles 206.3.2 (smuggling by a group of persons by prior conspiracy), 234.4.1 and 234.4.3 (illegal manufacture, production, acquisition, storage, transportation, transfer or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their precursors committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy or an organized group, as well as in large quantities) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the above-mentioned persons were brought to justice.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
