Court judgement for former vocational school director who embezzled state funds
The Lankaran Court of Grave Crimes has completed the criminal case of former director of Fizuli vocational school No. 1 Ogtay Veliyev, accused of embezzling more than 119,000 manats, oxu.az reports. The verdict was read out at the last hearing. By the court’s decision, he was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment in a general regime correctional facility and was arrested in the courtroom.
It is noted that according to official data, a criminal case was opened in the Main Department for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General’s Office on violations in Fizuli Vocational School No. 1. The investigation established that, as the director of this educational institution, Ogtay Veliyev abused his official powers and committed official forgery, embezzling more than 119,000 manats allocated from the state budget. He was finally charged under Articles 179.2.3 (embezzlement using official position), 308.2 (abuse of official powers resulting in grave consequences) and 313 (official forgery) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
