Kamran Aliyev: Since the beginning of the year, 29 people have been caught red-handed committing corruption-related crimes

Since the beginning of 2024, employees of the Main Department for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General’s Office have carried out 36 operations, 29 people have been caught red-handed, Report informs, citing an article by the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev in the Azerbaijan newspaper.

According to the head of the supervisory agency, during the reporting period, criminal cases against 143 individuals were sent to the courts for consideration. Material damage in 108 criminal cases amounted to 102 million 400 thousand manats. At the stage of preliminary investigation, compensation of 25 million 545 thousand manats was ensured, and property worth 20 million 760 thousand manats was seized. In total, compensation for damages amounted to 46 million 305 thousand manats.

In addition, in cases where proceedings were terminated, persons released from criminal liability compensated for material damage in the amount of 16 million 629 thousand manat, and an additional 2 million 68 thousand manat was paid to the state budget.
