Police detain two scammers who defrauded elderly people

In Baku, police officers detained two citizens who fraudulently stole money from elderly people, Report informs with reference to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan.

One of the victims of the scammers was a 79-year-old resident of Baku. She contacted the police with a statement that on October 5, she received a call and was told that her sister allegedly had an accident. The callers demanded 20,000 manats from the pensioner. The woman gave the money to strangers who came to her home, but soon realized that she had been deceived.

Officers of the 5th police station of the Binagadi District Police Department detained two residents of Baku – M. Askerli and G. Israfilov, who acted as couriers in this criminal scheme.

An investigation into the fact is ongoing.
