Half of the confiscated property of former officials returned to their owners

The Shirvan Court of Appeal has upheld the appeals of the spouses of the former first deputy of the former head of the Kurdamir District Executive Authority, Tajaddin Novruzov, and the head of the department, Natig Kerimov, who were convicted in a corruption case, Report informs. The decision was made at a trial chaired by Judge Parviz Hajiyev.

It should be noted that the family members of these individuals filed a cassation appeal for the return of the confiscated property. In August of this year, the Supreme Court partially upheld the appeal and sent the case to the appellate court.

Recall that the former head of the district Executive Authority and these officials were arrested during an operation carried out by the Main Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General’s Office in August 2020.

By the verdict of the Lankaran Court for Grave Crimes, former head of the Executive Power Jeyhun Jafarov, his first deputy Tajaddin Novruzov and head of the department Natig Kerimov were sentenced to 8 years and 6 months in prison.
