Accused of assassination attempt on Lankaran district executive authority head partially admitted guilt
The trial of Bahruz Askerov, accused of preparing an assassination attempt on the head of the Lankaran district executive authority Taleh Garashov, was held in the Baku Grave Crimes Court under the chairmanship of Judge Sabuhi Huseynov, Report informs. The indictment was announced at the trial. Askerov partially admitted his guilt. He refused to testify during the trial. The panel of judges decided to interrogate the victims first.
The next court hearing will be held on December 3, 2024.
It is noted that as part of the investigation conducted by the State Security Service, Askerov Bahruz Alimamed oglu, born in 1988, was detained and then arrested on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act.
According to the indictment, Bakhruz Askerov recruited individuals living in various regions of Azerbaijan to form a secret connection and gave them instructions to organize an assassination attempt on the life of the head of the Lankaran district executive authority.
He was charged under Articles 28.120.2.1, 28.120.2.10, 28.120.2.11, 28.120.2.12 (preparation for a repeat murder by a group of persons by prior conspiracy on the grounds of national, racial, religious hatred and enmity), 28.214.2.1, 28.214.2.3 (preparation for committing a terrorist act using firearms and objects used as weapons), 28.214-3.1 (preparation for training related to terrorism), 28.277 (preparation for an attempt on the life of a statesman) and 28.278.1 (preparatory actions aimed at the violent change of the constitutional order of the state) of the Criminal Code.
