Appeal Court ruling on the case of former head of Shamkir District Executive Authority
A trial was held on the appeal against the verdict handed down against the former head of the Shamkir District Executive Authority, Alimpasha Mammadov, APA reports. Today, the decision was announced at a session in the Ganja Court of Appeal. The court sentenced A. Mammadov to 10 years in prison.
By the decision of the Ganja Court for Grave Crimes, the former head of the Executive Authority was sentenced to 11 years and 6 months in prison. The court lifted the arrest on two properties of the former head of the executive authority, which were sold, and the proceeds from their sale were used to compensate for the damage caused to the state budget.
Alimpasha Mammadov was arrested in April 2021 during an operation carried out by the State Security Service (SSS). The former head of the Executive Power was charged under Articles of the Criminal Code 179.4 (embezzlement), 193-1.3.2 (legalization of funds obtained by criminal means), 308.2 (abuse of office), 311.3.2 and 311.3.3 (repeated bribe-taking, in a large amount). As part of the criminal case, the property of the former head of the Executive Power in the amount of 10 million manats was seized.
