The appeal court’s decision on the “Terter case”
The trial on the appeal against the verdict against the defendants in the “Terter case” – Ruslan Mikayilov, Sanan Mashiev, Jabir Gahramanov and Elchin Aliyev – has ended, oxu.az reports. The decision was announced at the Baku Court of Appeal during the trial chaired by Judge Gabil Mammadov. According to the ruling of the court, the defendants’ appeal was not satisfied.
According to the verdict announced at the trial chaired by Baku Military Court Judge Zeynal Agayev, Ruslan Mikayilov was sentenced to 6 years and 10 months, Sanan Mashiev – to 4 years and 10 months, Jabir Gahramanov – to 6 years and 8 months, and Elchin Aliyev – to 5 years and 8 months in prison. All of them filed an appeal against the verdict.
It is noted that in December 2021, the Prosecutor General’s Office made decisions to resume criminal cases on the “Terter case”. During the investigation, dozens of people were brought to criminal responsibility on suspicion of torturing individual military personnel, illegally depriving them of liberty and abuse of office. They were charged under Articles 145.3, 293.2, 341.2.2, 341.2.3 and 128 of the Criminal Code of the Azerbaijan Republic.
