Murder accused sentenced

The trial of Zulfugar Ismikhanov, accused of murdering his 85-year-old mother in the Guba district, has ended in the Sumgait Court of Grave Crimes, oxu.az reports. According to the judgement, the man was sentenced to 14 years and 6 months in prison.

The incident occurred in December last year in the village of Bagbanlar in the Guba district. According to the indictment, Zulfugar Ismikhanov (born in 1974), while intoxicated, inflicted serious injuries on his mother Zohra Ismikhanov (born in 1938) with a log. The woman died from her injuries.

Z. Ismikhanov was found guilty under Articles 120.2.4 (intentional murder committed with particular cruelty or in a generally dangerous manner) and 120.2.9 (intentional murder of a person who is known to the perpetrator to be in a helpless state, as well as associated with the kidnapping of a person or the taking of a hostage) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
