Former officials accused of corruption to stand trial

The preliminary investigation into the criminal case of former employees of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan accused of bribery and other serious crimes has been completed, oxu.az reports. The investigation was conducted by the Main Department for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General’s Office against the former head of the Tovuz Customs Department Elchin Shabanov, head of the Red Bridge customs post Vasif Abiyev, inspector of the Baku Main Customs Department Turab Nasirov, inspector of the Sumgait Customs Department Elmir Mammadov and former customs officer Tavakkul Bayramov.

In addition, the founder of Karvan 313 LLC Telman Ibragimov, his deputy and part-time former customs officer Arif Rzayev, as well as Shahin Soltanov, Rovshan Ibragimov and Fakhraddin Ibragimov were brought to criminal responsibility. According to the case materials, the defendants, using their official position, contributed to the evasion of customs duties in the amount of several million manats.

The case will be considered in the Ganja Court for Grave Crimes.
