Murder committed 31 years ago solved
A premeditated murder committed 31 years ago has been solved in Baku, Report informs citing the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
According to the agency, as a result of investigative and operational-search activities carried out by the prosecutor’s office and the Nizami District Police Department of Baku, the murder of businessman Ali-Iskender Babayev was solved. He was shot dead in his car on February 14, 1993.
The collected evidence established that 22-year-old Aydin Gililov met 37-year-old Ali-Iskender Babayev near house No. 84 on Sharifli Street. During a conversation in a GAZ-24 car, an argument arose between them over personal relationships. During the conflict, Gililov fired twice from a Nagant-type firearm, killing Babayev.
On November 22, 2024, Aydin Gililov was charged under Articles 120.1 (premeditated murder) and 228.1 (illegal possession of weapons) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
