Head of 35 companies arrested
Fagani Rahimov, the head of a total of 35 companies that repeatedly won tenders held by state structures, has been arrested, oxu.az reports. The businessman is accused of embezzlement and laundering of money obtained through criminal means. A preventive measure in the form of arrest has been chosen against him until the end of January 2025.
Fagani Rahimov is also known for having built a hotel in front of a historical monument in Gadabay two years ago. At the same time, accusations of illegal construction appeared.
During the investigation conducted around his companies, illegal actions of a number of government officials were also revealed. F. Rahimov carried out most of his illegal activities through İnşaat-F LLC. In total, state-owned enterprises transferred about 600,000 manats to Fagani Rahimov’s companies.
If the charges are confirmed, Rahimov faces up to 12 years in prison.
