The State Security Service conducted an investigation of a criminal case against persons who illegally gained access to the information databases of the Ministry of Health (e-health.gov.az), the Ministry of Science and Education (miq.edu.az) and other state bodies of the Republic of Azerbaijan through a cyber attack, oxu.az reports. The investigation of the criminal case has been completed, and the collected materials, along with the indictment, have been submitted to the court. On November 22, 2024, a preparatory hearing on this case was held in the Khazar District Court of Baku.
It was established that Javid Dunyamaliyev and Jalil Jalilov, accused under Articles 271.3, 272.3 and 273-1.4.2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, illegally gained access to e-health.gov.az, miq.edu.az and other databases through cyber interference, seized personal data of Azerbaijani citizens and sent them to special servers at their disposal. Then they tried to sell this information through anonymous pages created in the Telegram messenger and other social networks.
To attract the attention of potential buyers, the criminals published personal data of influential people in the country in advertisements, claiming that they could sell information about any citizen. After the activities of these individuals were exposed, the personal data they collected and illegal access to the relevant information systems were blocked.
The next court hearing will be held on December 13.
