Website directors arrested for blackmailing entrepreneurs

Police officers have brought to criminal responsibility the directors of several websites who, by threatening to disseminate compromising information, extorted money from individuals engaged in small and medium-sized businesses in Baku and in certain regions of the country.

According to APA, based on numerous complaints received by the Main Department for Combating Organized Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the following have been detained: the general director of the Aztvnews.az website Seymur Mammadov, the general director of the Qaynar-xett.az website Zaur Akhmedov, the general director of the Postbaku.net news website Eldaniz Mezhdunov, and the general director of the Aja.az website Elvin Gurbanov.

During the investigation, it was revealed that they had previously conspired to prepare a video report that affected the reputation of individuals, threatened to distribute it in the media, and demanded various amounts of money. In fact, the Investigation Department of the Main Department for Combating Organized Crime has opened a criminal case under the relevant articles.
