The creators of fake employment groups on WhatsApp will appear in court

The preliminary investigation of the criminal case of Zakhid Muradov and Naila Mamedova, accused of fraud against more than 100 citizens under the pretext of employment, has been completed, Oxu.Az reports with reference to Qaynarinfo, the case materials have been transferred to the Khazar District Court. The trial will be chaired by Judge Emin Rustamov.

According to the investigation, 75 people have been recognized as victims in the case. Z. Muradov and N. Mamedova were detained in September last year as a result of an operation carried out by the Khazar District Police Department.

The investigation established that the accused created fake employment groups on the WhatsApp messenger, where they presented themselves as authorized persons, and, having gained the trust of citizens, promised them work. For their services, they demanded a certain payment from applicants.

Z. Muradov and N. Mamedova were charged under Article 178.2.1 (fraud committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. According to the article, the perpetrators face a fine of 4,000 to 7,000 manat, restriction of freedom for a term of 1 to 3 years, or imprisonment for a term of 2 to 5 years with possible confiscation of property.
