Former head of financial service of one of the military units of the Ministry of Defense sentenced

The trial of Jebrail Orujov, former head of financial service of various military units of the Ministry of Defense, accused of embezzlement of funds from the state budget, has ended. As Oxu.Az reports with reference to APA, the sentence was announced at a session of the Baku Military Court, which was chaired by Judge Bilal Mamedov.

According to the document, J. Orujov was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold office for two years. The state prosecutor requested 11 years of imprisonment.

It should be noted that the former head of the financial service of one of the military units of the Ministry of Defense, J. Orujev, testified as a witness in the trial of the criminal case of the former head of the Financial and Budget Department of the Ministry of Defense, Major General Nizami Mammadov, the former head of the Financial Service of the Air Force, Colonel Jalal Kazimov, the head of the Financial Department of the Ground Forces, Bayram Bayramov, and the former head of the Financial Service of the Navy, Vusal Alizade, who were arrested for embezzlement.

Recall that in May 2024, J. Orujev was detained by the Main Investigation Department of the State Security Service (SSS). He was charged under Article 179.4 (embezzlement or misappropriation with significant damage) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.

During the investigation and trial, it was established that the damage caused to the state budget has not yet been compensated.
