Sentence passed on persons who stole gold worth about 400 thousand manats
The court sentenced gang members who stole 2,800 manats in cash and gold jewelry worth about 400 thousand manats from a private house in the village of Eyublu in the Tovuz region three years ago, Oxu.Az reports. Thus, in December 2021, residents of the village Nemat Abbasov, Elshad Jafarov, Zaur Aliyev, Asif Mammadov, Anar Abbasov and Elvin Mirzoyev were detained on suspicion of committing the crime.
During the investigation, it was established that the organizer of the theft was the victim’s nephew, Elshad Jafarov. As a result, the accused entered the house, stole a bag with gold jewelry worth 376,460 manat from the bedroom, as well as 2,800 manat in cash, and then fled to Baku. The criminals divided the money between themselves.
The court found all the accused guilty under Article 177.3.2 (theft causing significant damage) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. According to the verdict, Z. Aliyev was sentenced to 6 years 6 months, N. Abbasov – to 6 years 11 months 3 days, E. Jafarov – to 5 years 10 months 25 days, A. Mammadov – to 5 years 10 months 27 days, E. Mirzoyev – to 4 years 5 months 20 days, A. Abbasov – to 3 years 4 months 25 days of imprisonment. The term of punishment is calculated from August 15, 2024.
