Details of the trial on the theft of half a million manat from Premium Bank

A regular hearing was held in the Baku Court of Grave Crimes under the chairmanship of Judge Javid Huseynov on the case of the former manager of the Premium Bank branch Nazaket Mammadkhanova and chief cashier Samira Aliyeva, accused of embezzling a large sum of money, Oxu.Az reports. At the beginning of the trial, Nazaket Mammadkhanova’s lawyer Tarana Aliyeva filed a motion to consider the issue related to two real estate properties of her client. She also stated the need to resume the trial.
The prosecutor opposed the defense’s motion to conduct a commodity examination. Samira Aliyeva’s lawyer Nijat Imanzade proposed to re-evaluate the property through a notary.

The court, returning after the meeting, rejected the motion of Tarana Aliyeva’s lawyer. The judge asked the parties for their opinion regarding the completion of the trial. The state prosecutor asked for time to speak under Article 308 (abuse of power) of the Criminal Code. The trial was postponed until February 7.

It is noted that the investigation by the Main Anti-Corruption Department under the Prosecutor General’s Office established that the manager of the 5th branch of Premium Bank Nazaket Mamedkhanova, using her official position, embezzled 461,170 manats from May 8 to 23, 2024. She was assisted by the chief cashier of the branch Samira Aliyeva
