Large drug trafficking prevented

During another operation against illegal drug trafficking, Sumgait City Police Department officers detained 44-year-old Renad Sultanov, who had previously served time for a similar crime, Oxu.Az reports, citing the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan.

During the search, about 14 kg of drugs, including marijuana and heroin, as well as 79 tablets of the psychotropic substance methadone, were found and seized from the detainee. As Sultanov admitted, he received the drugs from an Iranian citizen whom he met on social networks. The potion was hidden in a pre-arranged hiding place. The detainee had already taken the drugs and planned to deliver them to different addresses for further distribution.

An investigation is underway into this incident. Law enforcement agencies are continuing to take measures to identify and bring to justice other members of the drug network, which included Renad Sultanov.
