Private clinic cardiologist embezzled over 333,000 manats

The Supreme Court has completed its consideration of the cassation appeal against the verdict against private clinic cardiologist Dilber Hasanalieva, accused of embezzling over 333,000 manats belonging to three sisters. As reported by oxu.az, the decision was announced at the trial chaired by Judge Ilgar Jafarov. According to the ruling, the complaint was rejected.

According to the prosecution, Dilber Hasanalieva embezzled 333,677 manats belonging to three sisters under the pretext of investing in the hotel and construction businesses. Dilber’s mother, Tamilla Hasanalieva, worked as a leading researcher, PhD and associate professor at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics. She suggested her friend and colleague Ayten, also a leading researcher at the institute, to invest in the hotel and construction business in Goranboy.

She was charged under Article 178.3.2 (fraud committed with causing major damage) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. By the verdict of the Baku Court of Grave Crimes, Dilber Hasanalieva was sentenced to eight years in prison.
