Police operation: 33 kg of drugs seized

As a result of the operation conducted by the Balakan District Police Department, an attempt to sell 33 kg of drugs illegally imported into Azerbaijan was prevented. This was reported to Oxu.Az by the Sheki regional group of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

During the operation, previously convicted Eshgin Ismayilov was detained. He was found to have 30 kg of marijuana and about 3 kg of heroin, as well as methadone tablets. The detainee stated that he had purchased the drugs for the purpose of selling them. By the court’s decision, E. Ismayilov was sentenced to arrest.

During other operations, another 15 people suspected of organizing illegal drug trafficking in the district were detained. A Kalashnikov assault rifle, a magazine, and cartridges were also found in the house of one of the detainees, Ilham Muradov.

During the events to detect and seize illegally stored firearms and ammunition, the police confiscated one machine gun and three shotguns.

The investigation into these facts is ongoing.
