Persons attempting to smuggle large consignment of drugs into Azerbaijan detained

Persons attempting to smuggle large consignment of drugs into Azerbaijan have been detained. This was stated in a joint statement by the press center of the State Border Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, APA reports.

It was reported that on February 14 at 23:05, as a result of operational activities carried out jointly with the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the territory of the Horadiz border detachment of the Border Troops Command of the State Border Service, smuggling of a large consignment of drugs from the Islamic Republic of Iran into the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan was prevented.

A citizen of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Abdulnaser Nurzai (born in 2003), and another member of the criminal group, citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Alikishiev Sadig Tapdyg oglu (born in 1986), were detained for smuggling 8 kg of marijuana into the country.

Operational and investigative activities are ongoing.
