Court hearing on appeal against verdict in case of embezzlement of 143 million manats was held

A trial was held on the appeal against the verdict handed down against the former head of the Financial and Budget Department of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, Major General Nizami Mammadov, the former head of the Financial Service of the Air Force, Colonel Jalal Kazimov, the former head of the Financial Department of the Ground Forces Bayram Bayramov and the former head of the Financial Service of the Navy Vusal Alizade. As APA reports, the personal data of the accused were clarified at the trial chaired by Judge Ibrahim Ibrahimli in the Baku Court of Appeal.

As in the previous trial, the accused Jalal Kazimov stated that he waived his right to defense. Despite objections to the state-appointed lawyer, the judge did not satisfy this appeal.

The judge stated that the defendant in the appeal requested the application of Article 62 of the Criminal Code (establishing a more lenient punishment than the maximum sanction).

The next hearing is scheduled for March 10, 2025.
