In January, drugs worth over 19 million manats seized from circulation in Azerbaijan

In January, drugs worth over 19 million manats were seized from circulation in Azerbaijan, Report informs citing the permanent working group of the State Commission for Combating Drug Abuse and Illicit Drug Trafficking.

During the reporting period, law enforcement agencies identified a total of 685 crimes as a result of comprehensive operational and investigative measures.

Of these, 179 were related to the illegal sale of drugs, 505 – to the illegal acquisition and storage of drugs, 1 – to other crimes of this category.

In total, 750 kg 328.026 grams of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances worth 19 million 430 thousand manats were seized from illegal circulation. Of these, 681 kg 035.96 g was marijuana, 28 kg 335.05 g was heroin, 13 kg 146.382 g was opium, 9 kg 230.5 g was hashish, 3 kg 621.6 g were other narcotics and 14 kg 958.534 g were psychotropic substances. Also, 1,475 methadone tablets were seized from illegal circulation during the specified period.
