The Azerbaijani people honor the memory of the victims of the Khojaly genocide

In connection with the 33rd anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy, the Azerbaijani people visit the Ana harayı (Mother’s Cry) monument erected in the Khatai district of Baku in memory of the victims of the genocide.

As reported by Oxu.Az, the intelligentsia, representatives of the public, as well as ordinary citizens lay flowers at the monument and offer prayers for the repose of the souls of the innocent victims.

It should be noted that on the night of February 25-26, 1992, Armenian armed forces, with the support of the 366th Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment of the former Soviet Army stationed in Khankendi (then called Stepanakert), stormed the city of Khojaly. As a result of yet another massacre committed by Armenian aggressors against the Azerbaijani people, 613 people were killed with particular cruelty, including 106 women, 63 children and 70 elderly people, 1,275 civilians were taken prisoner, the fate of 150 people is still unknown. As a result of this monstrous genocide, eight families were completely destroyed, 25 children lost both parents, and 130 lost one of the parents.
